I did some posts for this book when it came out this winter on the blog and I was intrigued by the teasers and the dance aspect of it. Both my daughters dance so I was interested to see how dance played into the story. I bought the book on sale and finally had the chance and need to read it since I am posting and reading for the release of The Deeper We Get , book 2 in the series !! Although the details of their pasts were deeply disturbing , it was a quick heartfelt read for me and I was hooked and heartbroken very early on. I am not a fan of insta-love but then again I am an adult and not a young college student so if I think back to those days it really is not that unheard of to fall fast and hard. I am a fan of Jessica and this series , I am interested in reading some of her other books since they are in a different genre !!

Becca had a horrible childhood , nightmares plague her as she starts of her college experience far from home and her little brother that she has practically raised. Her mom is a drunk and her father is in prison for the horrible things he did to them years ago. It is heartbreaking to read of her father and mothers actions but also to read of Becca stepping up to give her brother Chad all he needed , she was and is such a brave and loving sister. Becca has no desire for relationships of any kind but finds herself living with 3 other girls and making fast friends with them. She is devoted to ballet and school. Her goals hinder her social life but she does not seem to mind. That is until she meets Levi. He is not giving up on his attempts , he is willing to take any little sliver of time she has to offer !! So of course he breaks her down and she comes to realize he may be just what she needs. He falls fast and hard but Becca is holding him at arms length. Will Levi put up with this or will this be the thing that ends his patience ??

Levi comes from money and has no problem spending it on Becca to help her achieve anything and to help her brother in a time of need. It may seem unrealistic but I would help those I loved if I had money so....... Levi's family is genuinely filled with great people and what they do to step in and help Becca and Chad is wonderful and if only more people could be like that !! There is much heartbreak in this book and Becca & Chad's struggles do get the best of them. Levi makes a few bad decisions and I was totally heartbroken but I do believe in the long run these are the things that help Becca heal and get to a place in life she can be happy and healthy. Thank goodness she wrote that damn letter !!

I enjoyed the book , loved reading about the dancing , I hope my children have a love for dance as Becca did !! I look forward to Chad's story and to see how Becca , Levi and his family are doing !!

Oh holy moly what an emotional roller coaster this was!! I kid you not!!I had many moments of laughter,then flipping right into an ugly cry session then back to giggling,then more crying!
In my opinion any author that can make me feel what their characters feel.... THAT'S a writer!!I just loved this story and the characters.Levi is just a total sweetheart.His family is the family we all want. Becca is the strongest most caring person and her little brother Chad has a heart of gold.The things they had to live through was enough to break anyone,but they pulled through,together!If you are looking for a story that will make you FEEL... This is it! Hands down,this one is brilliant!!I am looking forward to more from this author.I just found a new to me author and I'm keeping her!!
I told Jessica after reading the first page, my plans for the weekend were now ruined because I couldn't leave my house until I finished reading the book. The rest of the book didn't disappoint. There were so many aspects I loved about this book.
Loved the characters and the relationship dynamic between the main characters and the secondary characters. I loved how tragic and emotional the issue the main character had to deal with and appreciated how she didn't just get over it. Her progression was believable. I loved the love story between Becca and Levi. I also, loved the fact that Levi wasn't perfect. He had some major DB moments, but I still loved him.
My only complain is Gibson could probably gotten three books out of The Harder I Fall. The beginning went by so fast.
Super excited to read The Deeper We Get and read Chad's story, which you get a glimpse of at the end of this book.
The Harder I Fall is an incredibly emotional read. There were so many moments when I just wanted to reach inside my and hug Becca and make things right for her and her brother. I empathized and related to so many aspects of this story and it made the entire book that much more meaningful.

Becca is an amazing girl, intelligent and caring and strong beyond her years. Her life has been tumultuous at best and deeply wounding at worst. She is broken inside and she has come to accept that she will never be able to live a normal life. That made it all the more sweet and romantic when her life began to change. Enter Levi, an amazing guy with some issues of his own. He starts out as the perfect Book Boyfriend, but as it always happens, there comes a time when he loses some of his shine. But the beauty of the story doesn't end with Levi. There is beauty in the friendships she has with her roommate Sadie and her boyfriend Julian, also Levi's best friend. There is also the unexpected family she finds, a family that shows what family should really be about.

I'm not going to lie... the ending shocked me! A good ending, but unexpected!

Things to love...

--Sadie. Kind, patient, and caring... everything a best friend should be, something that Becca needed in her life.
--Levi's parents. And I can't explain why without spoiling a fantastic story line!
--The deep and dark issues of life. They were dark, but they were real and poignant.

My Recommendation Fantastic contemporary romance! I am reading the pre-release copy of the next book in the series, The Deeper We Get, and it is FANTASTIC!! I gave this one a 4.5 mugs!
