The first deep space missions have been survived, and the Group starts regular explorations in the stellar neighbourhood of Earth. Interstellar freight lines are opened and serviced; they provide the Group with ample funds. Then there is also the question of finding a new home world ...

All I can say, is wow! What an amazing adventure!

The Twisted Spaces Trilogy by EN Abel is such an inventive science fiction story that I was enthralled from beginning to end. I started reading sci-fi books when I was 12 with 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress' by Robert A Heinlein. I was hooked and read everything by Heinlein, then on to AC Clarke and Azimov and a host of other authors. Here I am, 57 years later and Sci-Fi is still my favorite genre.

The Twisted Spaces trilogy is one of only a half dozen other stories that have truly grabbed my imagination.

The director of CERN in Switzerland receives an offer he can't refuse. In exchange for a large quantity of antimatter, he will receive the detailed instructions for building an anti-gravity device, small working model attached. The offer later includes instructions for mass production of antimatter, which until then could only be produced by the Large Hadron Collider in miniscule quantities. Knowing that the anti-gravity device would change the world in dramatic ways, he agrees.

This is the start of the story of Twisted Spaces, a group of young scientists, some of them former military special forces operators, who have stumbled onto the means of defeating gravity and building an antimatter space drive through the means of an obscure physicist, whose mathematics no one can follow. Yet the core group of Twisted Spaces nerds have deciphered it to spectacular results. Not only have they discovered anti-gravity but the means of building a 'Star Trekish' hyper drive that can allow them to travel through space in the blink of an eye, to anywhere in the galaxy and beyond. Naturally, this process grabs the attention of Earth's superpowers causing major conflicts and violent interactions, because they want it for themselves. This seems to be a common theme among governments. If they can't have it, no one else should have it either.

Twisted Spaces appears to have been originally written in German then translated into English. During this process there have been numerous grammatical, spelling and badly translated turns of phrase. However, for me, this did not alter the absolute enjoyability of this story. Lets just say that it is in desperate need of an editor.

There are a core of main characters who receive extensive histories, especially many of the military characters. Others receive only cursory attention. These books were published in 2014 which is good to know since the story is set in 2017 and beyond.

There is a lot of action in space, on other planets and on Earth. There is romance, heartbreak and instances of nobel self sacrifice. The author accurately captures the bond between the brotherhood of warriors and integrates it well into the feeling of family among the forty-odd original members of the Twisted Spaces organization.

There are several stories of the warrior's experiences in the Middle East that are riveting. If these are concocted by the author, he's done an excellent job of making them sound authentic.

For the most part, the story has two major components. The interactions between the TS group and the various Earth governments. Next is the space explorations as TS tries to find a home world for themselves in order to get away from the inherent violence of the Earth and their own pasts.

One of the best plot devices is when TS turns an decommissioned Russian aircraft carrier into a starship. This alone is worth the price of admission.

Do I recommend this book? Absolutely and without reservation. Be advised that there is some adult language and violence. But there are only G-rated references to sex and romantic situations.

As stated above, be prepared for some, actually more than just 'some', poor editing through translation errors, etc. I overlooked these and still enjoyed the overall story immensely.

This will be a trilogy that I will mark as one of my all-time favorites. It will be read again and again; It's that good.

Loved this series. Great hard science and excellent characters. Many questions left but not at all unsatisfactory. Looking forward to more.
This is my second review and I'm glad I found this trilogy and I hope there is more to come in the near future. Three dimensional characters, believable protagonists and a driving narrative surrounded by eye-poppng future tech across the broad landscape of our galaxy and beyond. Can't wait to see what happens next.
.
I have read the two previous books and enjoyed them. In this book the print is too small and cannot be enlarged. I have to take my glasses off and put the book right up to my face to read this book. I can do this for a short time only. This is taking from my enjoyment of this story.
This book carries the main characters into more action, intrigue, and adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Reminded me of the "Trade World" series. Highly recommended!
This series is one of the best written and enjoyable collections I have ever read. The development of the story and the characters is outstanding. I look forward to reading to reading all books by this memorable writer.
I was very disappointed in the third volume. Instead of imagining what life on new planets could be like, there was too much racing around the galaxy in that old aircraft carrier and then it all deteriorated into space battles one on the heels of another. Too little imagination in the end for a series that started with inetresting ideas.
I usually only review the first book and do that for the whole series however as the series is awesome and the reviews not many (for such a good read) I have added a review for the other two books.

I have downloaded and read the current preview of the fourth book in the series and as it is almost finished (and quite good so far too) I highly encourage Mr Able to finish and publish it to tie up the series.
